How long can lubricants be stored for?

Lubricants have a quite long lifetime because they are designed to resist strong stresses. When storage conditions are good (dry and covered place) lubricants can be kept on the shelf for 5 years. When lubricants can be sensitive to moisture or water, like EALs (Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants), it is advised to keep them for a maximum of 3 years.

However, before taking action after such a period of time (use or destruction of the product) it is recommended to check the statement of the product with analysis.
